About this cause

We are a voluntary organisation that provides trained search personnel who are on call 24/7 and 365 days a year to support Hampshire Constabulary in searches for high risk missing people. These include children and young people, the elderly, and those living with Dementia, mental health issues and learning disabilities. We also care for those wishing to cause themselves harm. Searches are an emergency and require a rapid, planned response to quickly identify and priority search areas, deploy foot, bike and drone search teams and respond rapidly to new information. It requires a close working relationship with our partner agencies to ensure a joined-up team response; the Incident Control Vehicle is a vital piece of equipment that enables us to meet this objective.

How this cause brings people in the community together

A search for a missing person is an "emergency" with survivability dependant on time until located. This is especially so for those wishing to harm themselves or at risk of hypothermia such as those with dementia. The Incident Control Vehicle (ICV) is paramount to enabling our search and rescue teams to provide this rapid response with sophisticated search planning and mapping facilities. It can be rapidly deployed, sent to the required search sites and moved as new information is received. It is vital for ensuring timely communications with the police and other agencies and ensuring teams out searching are safe and well informed.
