Worsborough Country Park Family Trail
Education & Skills
We want to create a family trail to give families the chance to explore the outdoors in a safe environment and learn new things together.
About this cause
Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust is a new charitable trust set up to raise funding and support for our wonderful venues Worsborough Mill and Country Park, Elsecar Heritage Centre, Cannon Hall, Cooper Gallery and Experience Barnsley. The Museums are at the heart of the Barnsley community and are visited by more that 1.2 million people a year. Local families and children are regular visitors. The Museums, which are free of charge, are a place where families can spend quality time and learn together, whilst gaining inspiration to reach their potential in life. At Worsborough, there is the added bonus for families of being able to play outside together in the beautiful country park. This leads to healthier, more active families that are engaged with their environment.
How this cause brings people in the community together
A new family trail at Worsborough Country Park will give families and others in the Barnsley community a free resource to help them explore and learn about the beautiful countryside. It will encourage families to spend time together, outside in the fresh air, where they can have fun, play and learn together without it costing anything. The trail will be based on identifying animals, habitats and wildlife through the seasons. It will also offer suggestions for family activities in the park, games to play and how to spot and identify wildlife on the doorstep throughout the year. The trail will be available to download or pick up at Worsborough Miill. The trail will be developed by the Learning Service Team from Barnsley Museums who will involve local families and children in its design.
