People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
The roof coverings on our stables are deteriorating and letting in the rain. Our volunteers carry out many tasks on site, but we would like help to fund professional repairs.
About this cause
We aim to use the connection with horses for learning, health and wellbeing. We are dedicated to making Shiresmill a place where individuals grow and flourish, where 'it's what you can do that counts'. We provide both therapeutic riding and other equine-related sessions to people of all ages and abilities, including those with additional support needs.
How this cause brings people in the community together
One of our stables is used for storing hay. The other has special rubber flooring, and is used to contain a pony when it has been sedated by the vet for specific treatments, such as dental procedures or flu vaccinations. Our seven ponies are crucial to the service we provide to our participants. It is vital we have a dry environment for both their feed and vet visits.
