Biodiversity and climate change

We would like to improve the biodiversity of our pond area by sourcing local plants that encourage wildlife and pollinators. The children will survey the insects and animals that visit the area.

About this cause

We are the Parents, Teachers and Friends Association of Barrow C of E Primary School. Our aim is to support the school through events and fundraising, so we can provide equipment, resources and experiences that will enhance the children's educational experience and welfare. Our small school was founded in 1865 and is set in attractive school grounds, a wonderful place for children to be.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Teaching children how to encourage wildlife and pollinators, the importance of using locally sourced plants which are disease resistant to the local environment, and to recognise the impact of invasive species, will benefit the community. Children come from the local community area, and groups such as Babes 'n' Tots and Rainbows also use our grounds, so they will benefit, too.
