We would like to fund the rental of a community kitchen, subsidised food ingredients, biodegradable food containers, and to hire a chef and a coordinator.
About this cause
OMA is a grassroots, community support group that provides parcels of food, baby products, essential supplies, and freshly cooked reheatable meals to over 2,000 people per week. Our mission is to provide support to those who cannot access it elsewhere, while working in partnership with other local organisations to develop community-based food systems, and strengthen local resilience.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Oxford Mutual Aid (OMA) meals improve more than physical health, it offers people social contact and the opportunity to connect meaningfully with others in the community, particularly those at risk of social isolation. A meal recipient said: "Before you came along, I felt forgotten. You have treated me with such care, dedication, and understanding, and you have made me feel heard and cared about".
