Amber Activates
Mental wellbeing
We would like to purchase gym equipment to enable our service users to access physical activity and exercise without having to leave the ward, supported by staff and their peers.
About this cause
Our aim is to create a mini gym on our ward. This will help patients improve fitness, enhance mental wellbeing and reduce stress alongside their peers. We help people with severe mental health illnesses to exercise in a safe environment and give them the confidence to use equipment. Increased physical activity helps enhance wellbeing, boost mood, decrease tension and stress and improve sleep.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Amber Activates aims to help patients who are often too unwell to leave the ward and integrate with the local community to access exercise opportunities. By building a gym and introducing physical activity into their recovery plans, the project will help service users develop the confidence to use community spaces such as gyms, clubs and parks once they have left Langley Green Hospital.
