About this cause

The Herefordshire Branch of the National Autistic Society hopes to provide support to individuals of all ages with autism, their immediate families and carers, and to help  campaign for better local services for those living with autism in Herefordshire.   We are a volunteer led branch. Everyone who is part of the team are either a parent, carer, family member or a friend of somebody diagnosed with autism. These generous people volunteer because they want to help other families that are affected by autism. And all funds that this branch have are by the volunteers Fundraising for this branch to survive. Please take a look at our webpage and Facebook page to see all that we provide.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Connections Youth Group. The main aim of the group is to provide a safe and supportive environment where teens and young adults with autism can socialise, participate in a range of activities and access local community facilities. Many of these young people are struggling in their educational settings ,and have additional mental health problems and are under the services of the local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services.  We offer a service that enables these young people to feel that they ‘fit in’, and form friendships with peers that understand them.  In recognition that many of these young people find social situations difficult we want to offer a range of activities that bring those with shared interests together so that there is common ground from which to build.
