Mental wellbeing
Funding will be used to hire venues for our support groups and provide refreshments and activities for carers supported by volunteers, and to produce leaflets to promote the project within Mid Devon.
About this cause
Unite aim to support the health and wellbeing of unpaid carers in Mid Devon by providing peer support at our groups, where they can discuss their problems with fellow carers in similar circumstances, to exchange views, ideas, receive sympathy and understanding, feel supported and understood. We also provide practical help such as IT support, form filling and signposting to other organisations.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Unpaid carers are often socially isolated by their caring role. Bringing carers together for peer support at our groups throughout Mid Devon helps with mental wellbeing and offers practical and emotional support, whilst combating the loneliness experienced by carers. For those in rural locations and unable to get to support groups our telephone befriending services is a lifeline to many carers.
