The Skill Mill Croydon
People: Supporting young people to fulfil their potential
The Skill Mill supports young men and women out of the criminal justice system, through paid employment, undertaking meaningful physical work and improving the natural environment and local community.
About this cause
We're a group who want to increase engagement, participation, employability and educational levels of ex-offenders to increase their life chances. The stigma attached to having a criminal record, lack of previous opportunity and the negative societal attitudes towards children who have committed offences create enormous barriers for children. We actively remove these barriers.

How this cause brings people in the community together
We actively reduce reoffending. We have been operational in Croydon since August 2020 where we have employed 19 high-risk offenders with 11+ convictions. Just one of those has been re-convicted of an offence. As a result communities are made safer and local spaces are improved, which benefits all those residing in Croydon. We prioritise spaces where anti-social behaviour is at the highest.
