Life Care Radio
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We are hoping to extend our existing radio service to more nursing and residential homes in the South Devon area and also supply the ward in the hospital where our studio is based.
About this cause
We're a group who want to reduce isolation and loneliness for people receiving long-term care. We are hoping to extend our existing service to Totnes Cottage Hospital and a range of other residential homes in the area so that we can give even more people a sense of belonging through our radio programmes and request shows.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will reduce isolation and loneliness among older people and those receiving long-term care by giving a sense of belonging and inclusion. Stimulation and exposure to music, particularly songs that have meaning for the person, are shown to have mood-changing properties, promote lower pain levels and help cognition in those with dementia.
