Reach Out for Mental Health
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We're looking for support with funding for our volunteers who are the lifeblood of what we do. With planned local events, each volunteer carries an expense to recruit, train and carry out DBS checks.
About this cause
We're a group who want to reduce the number of attempted and completed suicides in Essex, Thurrock and Southend. We are improving wellbeing and mental health, reducing isolation, and enabling community-led action. Via the befriending and coaching services, and the coffee afternoons, we support clients to achieve their full potential by instilling self-confidence, self-worth and a sense of value.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Currently we support around 20 people per week for six to eight weeks at any given time. We plan to open up more coffee afternoons, recruit more volunteers for our befriending/coaching service and consequently, save more lives. We aim to expand our reach for volunteers in areas with high suicide rates, such as Colchester and Tendring. With more volunteers, we can reduce our waiting times.
