Mentoring Plus
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We aim to provide cooking sessions for local young people who have significant mental health issues. The sessions will allow them to eat healthy meals and give them the option to talk to us.

About this cause
Mentoring Plus supports more than 250 young people aged five to 21 every year with our mentoring programmes. We work with those who face tough challenges at home and school, often as a result of poverty, family difficulties, and educational needs. Most of our young people struggle at school, receive social services support, and many are young carers in families with complex physical and mental problems.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Cooking together is a key part of our group sessions and offers the opportunity to sit and eat collectively - something our young people probably don’t do at home with their own families. They can also share healthy food and develop cooking skills, enabling them to learn, as well as being listened to by skilled mentors.
