People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We would like to run apron sewing workshops for our members, who are people in Shropshire living with mental health challenges. We create with a purpose; to smash the stigma surrounding mental health.
About this cause
Designs in Mind is a working studio based in Oswestry, North Shropshire, where adults living with mental health challenges work together on ambitious and experimental art and design projects. We want to smash the stigma surrounding mental health and help our members find a way forward. By creating together with a purpose, we show members that they 'can', and that their voices are important and heard.
How this cause brings people in the community together
These workshops will allow members to create with purpose and as a team, building confidence and challenging the low expectations that often affect people living with mental health challenges. Learning new skills and overcoming obstacles allows members to see a way forward, leading to pathways into new opportunities, commissions or taking steps to self-employment.
