People: Supporting young people to fulfil their potential
Funding will help FC Battersea use football to mentor boys of all backgrounds and means to become leaders on and off the field. Please help us support them with coaching and positive mindset training.
About this cause
We use youth football to inspire boys to be leaders on and off the field. We show that hard work and self-belief wins above all. The club was set up in response to state schools offering very little sport, especially in low-income areas. Our mission was to attract and support players from housing estates, but we cater for boys from all backgrounds. Nobody needs to pay fees if they can't afford to.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The link between sport, mental wellbeing, self-confidence and achievement is well documented, but UK state schools are unable to afford to offer much sport, and the cost of attending a private club can be prohibitive for immigrants and those on low incomes. We select boys purely on their potential and character – not their ability to pay – and we use football to create great leaders.
