About this cause
Changing Lives in Cheshire (CLiC) is a social enterprise committed to delivering real environmental, social and community impact and making a difference to the people of Cheshire. We provide creative solutions to social and environmental issues through furniture reuse and recycling. Structured as a charitable company, we aim to be financially sustainable through enterprise but our social impacts are at the core of why we do what we do. Our Core Business • providing support, employment, training and development opportunities for local people including those with physical and learning difficulties • reuse and recycling of waste to help to protect the environment • enabling people on a low income to get access to good quality items for the home at low cost through furniture reuse.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We provide a place to sell our own upcycled items on which our volunteers and placements have done a “shabby chic” treatment. This activity saves items from landfill as well as providing skills and opportunities to those who volunteer with us. The other side to the shop activity is to create a supportive and non-threatening place local women can meet and learn new skills as well as overcome social isolation. The Creative Concepts shop now hosts the craft sessions, providing an alternative to our main site. These sessions are promoted within the Winsford community and all equipment is provided by CLiC. We would like to provide more of these sessions at our shop and we are looking to cover the costs of materials ie paint and accessories and marketing materials so we can reach those in need.
