Cheshire Agricultural Chaplaincy
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
Farming as an occupation has one of the highest rates of suicide. Cheshire Agricultural Chaplaincy has been working with the community since 2000 supporting and developing mental health resilience.
About this cause
We aim to support members of the farming community with a listening ear for as long as required. Many are suffering from depression, mental health issues or financial difficulties. Farming has one of the highest rates of suicide, with many facing financial pressures, isolation, adverse weather, family disputes, government regulations and inspections, administration, poor harvests, livestock disease and long hours.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project supports people through mental health issues and develops resilience in both individuals and the community with visits to farms. We deliver a programme of social events and opportunities for people to gather and make new friends, thus reducing isolation and loneliness.
