About this cause

We provide and inclusive cycling club in a secondary school grounds primarily for aged 8 - adults who have physical or learning disabilities, visual or hearing impairments. We are the only group in North Somerset/Somerset carrying our this work, providing two wheel and adapted bikes according to need. The lives of our members are changed by an activity that is in a safe environment where people can learn new skills, gain confidence, make friends, help with their health and well-being, which in turn has an impact on their day to day lives. Parents and carers have benefited by being part of this group and seeing the achievements at the club. All our volunteers are from this community and are very involved in the running of the sessions, which they are very proud of.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Our club has been an example of how you can overcome a disability by providing an activity non-disabled take for granted. Many of the wider community have been amazed at the bikes on offer and how many people take part. We will be visiting cycling competitions to inspire our participants to reach their full potential as they see what others can achieve. We will be taking people out for the day to a velodrome to enjoy the atmosphere of the event. Our coaches, volunteers, participants as well as parents and carers will be involved in these outings. We also want to purchase some new helmets to replace some broken ones as well as purchasing some other items to make our cycling fun. This will help our participants to make the most of our sessions, teaching skills and safety.
