We would like to teach the children, teachers and families of Holmfirth Junior and Infant School how to grow fruit and vegetables. The food grown will be shared with the children and families.
About this cause
Based in Huddersfield, we work across Kirklees with schools and community groups to share knowledge and skills about growing vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs. We work with children and their families to learn about the health benefits of being outside and access to nature all year round. We aim to increase access to fresh produce and teach people how to grow their own.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will help children and families learn how to grow and care for vegetables, fruit, flowers and herbs at the school allotment. We will learn how to manage an organic growing space with nature in mind. The children and families will be supported to use the food at home and the produce grown will be shared with the group.
