About this cause

St Cuthbert's is a drop-in centre in Earl's Court - its mission statement is 'proving the community cares' and it does so by looking after those about whom the broader community does not care. It provides survival services and early interventions for 750 people suffering from mental illnesses, homelessness, substance misuse, isolation and extreme poverty. - improved physical wellbeing by attending to nutrition, general health and personal hygiene - improved mental wellbeing through mental health assessments and counselling - reduced isolation through meals and companionship - meaningful activities help relieve symptoms of anxiety & depression, increase cognitive skills and thinking, increase social interaction, and maintain skills/independence for longer - reduced risk of homelessness

How this cause brings people in the community together

We want to run an Elderly Care Project five days a week for 400 elderly and vulnerable adults, many of whom have severe mental issues e.g. dementia and alzheimer's. - Breakfast & Lunch, laundry service, showers & clothes bank (Mon-Fri) - Women's Coffee Morning & Knitting Group (weekly) - Reading Club for over 50's with mental health issues (weekly) - Reminiscing Sessions using music, books & films (twice a week) - Basic healthcare via visiting Nurse Practitioner (weekly) and GP (monthly) to help prevent heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes & kidney disease - Podiatrist & Dental Hygienist (6-monthly) - Mental Health assessments - Bingo sessions (weekly) & Film Club (daily) - Christmas Dinner & present (for 50+) - Summer Outing to the coast, e.g. Hastings.
