Cumbria Alcohol and Drug Advisory Service (CADAS)
Young people
We are wanting to train more volunteers to train teachers and other school staff, as well as youth leaders in drug and alcohol awareness and how they can support the young people they work with.
About this cause
We are a charity covering all of Cumbria, working with individuals and communities to reduce the harm caused by alcohol and substance use. We work with individuals on a 1-2-1 basis or in groups to address addictive behaviour and also support their family, friends and carers. We also work with schools on drug and alcohol prevention and can provide support to young people aged 10+.

How this cause brings people in the community together
If a child or young person is using alcohol or substances, often many people in the area are affected. We hope that by training teachers and youth workers in alcohol and drug awareness, young people will receive the support they need to recover. This should reduce hospital admissions, police callouts and the number of anti-social behaviour incidents that are often linked to alcohol and drug abuse.
