People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We aim to pay for a counsellor who understands the range of issues and challenges relating to brain injury who can provide support to local brain injury survivors and their families.
About this cause
Our goal is to improve life after brain injury and help survivors regain their independence and lost skills.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Depression is especially common after brain injury, with roughly 50% of people experiencing depression during the first year of their recovery. It can be a devastating experience for both the individual concerned as well as their family. Our counselling service will help individuals and family members learn coping mechanisms to manage their mental health and wellbeing on a day-to-day basis.
