We would like to provide a community fridge to enable more access to food for people in need, and less wasted food going to landfill.
About this cause
We are a group who want to save food from going to landfill, while helping to feed people in our communities. Anyone can come along to our sessions and help themselves to a selection of food that was destined for landfill.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Community fridges are local hubs providing not just food but a social aspect. Many service users come along and chat in the queue as they wait for their food and this helps to combat loneliness and isolation. We also provide our service with no questions asked, to ensure everyone can have access to food without the fear of being judged. We feel this has a positive impact on mental health.
