Home-Start North West Kent
Mental wellbeing
We would like to enhance our service to meet increased demand caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Many parents are reporting increased feelings of isolation and low mood.
About this cause
We tackle isolation and encourage community engagement of 150 isolated vulnerable families with pre-school children referred to us each year. We train and 'match' volunteer parents (of all ages and cultures) to visit a family every week, providing emotional and practical support. Long-term befriending builds trust and parental confidence to attend group support.

How this cause brings people in the community together
Our project helps people come together, co-operating to have a positive impact on community wellbeing as well as their own. We know that volunteering improves emotional wellbeing and we are receiving increased enquiries post-Covid. We offer group support, plus one-to-one counselling.
