We want to replace and upgrade our camping and activity equipment for the fantastic opportunities we offer, and also train more volunteers.
About this cause
We are a popular scout group in Wesham providing fun, outdoor adventurous activities for young people from age 6 to age 14. We currently have 70+ children in the group as well as waiting lists for the different sections. We are run entirely by unpaid volunteers and we receive no central funding so all of our income comes from donations and fundraising. Our running costs each year for the hut and two minibuses are approximately £8000 and then we also have to constantly fundraise extra for replacing the minibuses and also replacing and upgrading the extensive amount of camping and boating equipment that we use to provide the activities we offer.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We offer fun outdoor adventure and activities to over 70 young people - boys and girls from age 6 to 14. Many of our young people go on to become young leaders and adult helpers in scouting. All our volunteers are unpaid and are committed to scouting values: creating fantastic opportunities for young people and encouraging them to become useful and productive members of the local community.
