About this cause

Established in 1940, Berkshire Youth is a charity that provides support to adults & young people across Berkshire. We have continued to develop new opportunities for both adults & young people. Our mission is to support, empower & inspire young people & offer positive extra-curricular activities. Berkshire Youth delivers through 4 core areas: Activities & Projects - We offer a range of positive activities for young people to become involved in throughout their childhood. Training - We look to train & recognise young people & adults who want to make a difference to themselves & their communities. Volunteer Support - We support adult and young volunteers to make a difference to their communities. Youth Club Support - We offer support & guidance to local youth clubs & Projects.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This project looks to run a series of fun & engaging First Aid training sessions to young people from aged 8 years old & above. The sessions will be delivered by First Aid Instructors, last 2 hours & be delivered at schools, youth clubs & uniformed groups. It will teach young people basic but essential first aid skills, such as CPR, recovery position, what to do in an emergency & how to use community-based AEDs (Automatic External Defibrillator). Over 100,000 people died in the UK last year where First Aid could have saved them. First Aid is a key life skill that isn't taught in many schools, but can save a loved one or a stranger's life. Having young first aiders within the community will help to better equip them to deal with a medical emergency, no matter what their age or ability.
