Waterways Experiences
People: Supporting young people to fulfil their potential
We are seeking funds to cover the cost of two of our free-of-charge, one-week residential trips, enabling young people with learning and physical disabilities to experience a waterways adventure.
About this cause
We are a volunteer charity, which aims to boost wellbeing within our community, amongst our clients. We provide fully accessible canal boat trips for all and particularly the disadvantaged of all ages – including the elderly, youth groups, and people with physical/learning disabilities – encouraging them to participate as much as they are able, and to enjoy spending therapeutic time on the water.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The trips are called 'Enable' for the reason that their unique benefit enables youngsters with physical or learning difficulties to do more for themselves and others than they are used to. They have fun, make new friends, experience a sense of freedom and learn new skills on the trips, which boost their mental health, reduce isolation and improve self esteem/confidence.
