People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We would like to provide people the opportunity to learn a range of useful new skills in gardening, landscaping and construction, as they improve green spaces across west London.
About this cause
Hammersmith Community Gardens Association is a local environmental charity. HCGA has a range of projects which include conservation training schemes, volunteer gardening sessions, health and wellbeing projects, environmental play schemes and environmental education in local schools. We manage several community gardens in west London and help other organisations manage their green spaces.
How this cause brings people in the community together
The Get Out There! volunteers are local residents who are long-term unemployed and socially isolated, while many have mental or physical health problems. The team works hard each week on different sites around west London, including schools, improving green spaces for the local community.
