Springfield Beech Hill And Gidlow Community
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We plan to create a sheltered space that can be used in the garden to host community gatherings, including informal get togethers and organised events such as yoga, book clubs, mindfulness etc.
About this cause
We're a group who want to connect the community. We are passionate about local community spaces and the skills of local people being utilised. We have set up a food pantry as local people were passionate about food poverty. We have worked tirelessly to bring back to life an overrun and disused community garden. Neighbours have connected via walking groups, poetry groups and street conversations.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Events and activities enable natural conversations to happen, this increases connections and reduces isolation. People will have a purpose and somewhere to belong. It will also be an informal place which will provide a calming and peaceful area to reflect in and enjoy the fresh air. The combination of planned and informal opportunities will increase people's physical and mental wellbeing.
