The Christie Charity
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We wish to fund relaxation sessions for chemotherapy and radiotherapy outpatients who attend treatment clinics at The Christie and help patients cope with the stress and anxiety of living with cancer.
About this cause
The Christie charity raises money for a range of projects and initiatives for cancer patients at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, which treats over 60,000 patients every year. The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds, enabling us to give patients the best care and treatment possible. This includes mental wellbeing services such as complementary therapy.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Complementary therapies play a key role in The Christie’s approach to treating the whole person. This project helps cancer patients to work proactively towards their recovery and take charge of their wellbeing in hospital and at home. The service is also open to carers who share the burden of living with cancer so families can come together to support one another through their treatment.
