About this cause

CEED works to support and improve the lives of people through focusing on the natural environment and on green spaces: on how they are used and how they can be improved. We are an active charity that specialises in empowering and educating communities to value their green-space through providing opportunities for engagement, play, learning and environmental improvement projects. We provide expert support to people of all ages within the community of Sunderland including; community groups, youth groups, volunteers and local schools. Activities allow people to better use their outdoor environment through education, training, play and volunteering opportunities that support the improvement of the environment and local people’s quality of life, health and well-being.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Green Families will provide fun, practical sessions that allow families to play and learn together. They will enjoy a range of tasks - practical gardening, natural crafts, willow weaving and growing herbs and flowers in re-cycled pots – learning new skills and how to use a range of hand tools. To be surrounded by nature is proven to reduce stress and improve mood. Activities will cater for the whole family; provide the opportunity for outdoor fun and exercise and benefit families through a shared experience, through undertaking new tasks and discovering new skills together. Activities would be open to all and be suitable for children around 8 years and older. However, younger children would be able to attend given sufficient parent supervision with easy to do tasks for small hands.
