Blue Smile
Mental wellbeing
We would like to pay for therapists to receive specialist training. This would support children’s mental health as we emerge from the pandemic, and provide arts materials for use during therapy.
About this cause
Blue Smile supports 250+ vulnerable and often disadvantaged Cambridgeshire children every year, aged 3-13 who have poor mental health, with the goal of enabling those children to lead happier lives and achieve their potential. Expert practitioners provide 1:1 arts therapy; by supporting families and school staff we remove stigma around mental health and create long-term improvements for children.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Younger children with pre-existing mental health problems and special educational needs have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic. The impact this has on their behaviour at school also affects the children around them. Ensuring that therapists have up-to-date training and resources will give those children and their classmates the best chance of recovery from the pandemic.
