Coping with Chaos Family Support Services
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We'd like to the support siblings of a disabled child, as these children often feel they don't have a voice; usually due to the demand on the family.
About this cause
We're a group who wants to set up a support group for siblings of a disabled child. We want to bring a little sunshine into their daily lives. Our community are families across Dorset with a disabled child. We want to provide support by offering a friendly group to siblings. These children, who are often young carers, can come and have fun with peers and learn coping strategies.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Many of the children and young adults we work with have complex, profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD). Due to a lack of understanding in some other groups regarding disability, families have often felt unwelcome and unable to attend groups. We welcome everyone; we provide a strong sense of community for all those who join. Most families stay for years and use multiple services.
