We would like to pay a contractor to run the weekly sessions; coordinating garden activities and imparting gardening skills to volunteers. They will also coordinate with the food growing team.
About this cause
Glengall Wharf Garden is a peaceful green oasis at the east side of Burgess Park, in north Peckham, managed by and for local people. We run open gardening sessions and food growing, with produce donated to the local food bank in Peckham. We provide a variety of fresh and organic options.
How this cause brings people in the community together
During our sessions, volunteers work together to complete tasks and many people make friends with others from the community. All of our volunteers leave with a new-found confidence and gardening skills, with many taking such skills to other local community spaces. With 71% of our members not having access to a garden, Glengall Wharf offers a calm oasis for use.
