Bourne End Junior Sports Club
Young people
We'd like to update our climbing equipment. Climbing gives children confidence, improves self-esteem, fitness and wellbeing, while they learn new skills and socialise.
About this cause
We're a group who want to provide sports and recreation for children and young people in the area. The group has been running since 1970 and we have seen thousands of children pass through the club. We have our own multi-sport centre which is extensively used by club members, school students and members of the local community. The club is run entirely by volunteers, we receive no regular grants.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Climbing is an individual sport that attracts those who do not enjoy team activities and is excellent for building self-esteem, confidence and wellbeing. Our club also hosts children's parties, and Scouts, Cubs, Guides and Brownies often visit. Adult climbers climb during evenings/weekends. The total number of users per annum is approximately 4,000 from a diverse group of people.
