With your help First Light will provide listening and mentoring support to 375 individuals and families affected by domestic abuse, helping them to move on to happier, healthier lives.
About this cause
First Light's mission is to create a South West where everyone can live free of domestic abuse and sexual violence. Our offices at Threemilestone provide the base for our services and support for Cornwall. In 19/20 our team of staff and volunteers dealt with 11,362 calls on our Domestic Abuse helpline. 8,687 individuals and families went on to access our services to escape or recover from abuse.

How this cause brings people in the community together
Each individual/family will be supported to move on to happier, healthier lives following abuse. Mentors will help them to talk through their experience, lose any feelings of shame or guilt, to rebuild their self-worth and value their own decision making. For volunteers with their own experience of domestic abuse, they will turn a negative aspect of their life into a positive, helping others.
