Ashford Baby Memorial Garden
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We run the unique Ashford Baby Memorial Garden where we remember well over 300 special babies who have died through miscarriage, stillbirth or in infancy.
About this cause
We're a small, entirely volunteer run charity, set up to help families who have lost babies, through miscarriage, stillbirth or dying as a baby. We run the unique Ashford Baby Memorial Gardens in the town centre where we have well over 300 baby names recorded on name tiles. We also raise awareness of baby loss, helping families to find support and information, through our Smiley Face Tombolas.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Families losing a baby often struggle emotionally with their loss, feeling isolated and unsupported, particularly as baby loss is such a taboo subject, not often talked about. The Ashford Baby Memorial Garden and our related events in Ashford such as the Picnic, our Christmas Remembrance event and the Wave of Light help us support families, showing they are not alone and that support is available.
