Ups and Downs Southwest
People: Improving people’s mental wellbeing
We would like to run monthly drop-in sessions for parents/carers of children and young people with Down's syndrome in the Southwest.
About this cause
Our mission is to support families who have a child or young person with Down's Syndrome. In particular, but not exclusively, by providing face-to-face support as well as information to enable these children and young people to reach their full potential, both educationally and socially.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Our Time to Talk sessions will allow our parents/carers to come together and talk to likeminded people who appreciate how lonely parenting a child with Down's syndrome can be. We aim to make a difference to the mental wellbeing of the participants by alleviating those feelings of loneliness, hoping they form firm friendships to help them navigate the next stage of their child's life.
