About this cause

Our community garden is a haven for local people and urban wildlife in the UK’s fifth most densely populated borough, Lambeth. We build community and improve lives by encouraging all ages to garden, learn, play and be creative together outdoors. We are open seven days a week for volunteering, events, workshops, and visits, and in the last three years we have engaged 74,000 visitors, 10,000 children and 1700 volunteers.

How this cause brings people in the community together

Many local people are experiencing social isolation and feeling mentally or physically unwell, especially since Covid-19. Many are out of work and lack access to safe green space. Our outdoor therapeutic sessions will grow participants’ sense of community, confidence and wellbeing as they learn new skills, feel healthier and gain a sense of shared purpose by taking part in this community project.
