About this cause
ASCEND helps those furthest away from the job market, including the long-term unemployed, carers, those with mental and physical health conditions and people who are lonely. We support them through a variety of programmes, such as courses, a healthy hub, Dig Deep garden project, Building Better Opportunities hub and mentors, to help them move forward in their lives through employment, volunteering, or other activities.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Many people who are lonely have skills they can share from a hobby or through their working life. This project will focus on sharing these skills so others in the community can benefit. This would help to bring people together to share and ask advice. It would help people's wellbeing by focusing on a personal or community project that will get them involved and make new friends.
