About this cause

WightSAR volunteers support Hampshire Constabulary by being on call 24/7, 365 days a year, to search for missing vulnerable people across the IOW. These can be children, young people, those living with dementia, learning disability or mental health issues, and those wishing to do themselves harm. Our aim is always to bring a loved one home.

How this cause brings people in the community together

WightSAR has seen an increase in high risk despondent missing persons during the Covid-19 crisis. This includes three missing people sadly found deceased. All searches are an emergency and a rapid response improves detection time and missing person outcome. WightSAR also welcomes all types of volunteers, both operational and support. WightSAR is also a member of IOW Resilience Team.
