About this cause
Whalley Range Community Forum runs residents' meetings, community classes, age-friendly social events and health discussions to reduce isolation, encourage friendships, build confidence and improve learning, health and wellbeing. We support new community groups by holding their funds for events. We run a volunteer-led social group for people experiencing mental ill health. We also support hate crime reporting and food bank referrals.
How this cause brings people in the community together
We provided 250 clean and safe essentials packs with the contact details of forum and support services to food bank users, low income families, those isolated or shielding, and housing schemes. We identified need via our lists, links with WhatsApp street groups, social media, PCSOs and GPs. We received positive feedback and now plan to produce a door-to-door forum newsletter.
