Love Hambrook Marshes

We would like to run a programme of interactive educational activities so that school children and the wider public can use Hambrook Marshes to learn about nature and the environment.

About this cause
We own, manage and promote Hambrook Marshes, a 20 hectare public open space and nature reserve on the edge of Canterbury. The site includes many features you would expect of a country park, including the Great Stour Way walking and cycling route, footpaths, seating, view points and opportunities to interact with nature. The Marshes receive over 100,000 visits each year.
How this cause brings people in the community together
During coronavirus, the Marshes were far busier than usual as people from across the city used them for daily exercise. This helped to sustain physical and mental health. Building on this increased use, our project will encourage the community to develop a deeper understanding and sense of ownership of the Marshes. This will have a positive impact on both individual and community wellbeing.
