We'd like to buy a wheelchair accessible bus. This will enable us to continue transporting both elderly and disabled people, and to connect isolated people within our rural community.
About this cause
The purpose of our community transport is to connect people from rural villages to access local amenities and to meet people. We support the elderly, disabled and those suffering with social exclusion by virtue of unemployment, poverty, geographical remoteness or ill health. In 2019, we supported 11,250 passengers in Mid Deeside with our wheelchair accessible buses.
How this cause brings people in the community together
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we repurposed our organisation to support our community by using our buses and volunteers to deliver groceries, pharmaceutical items and frozen meals from the foodbank. We will continue this support until we can resume our normal services. Transport connects vulnerable people, reduces their social isolation and improves their health and wellbeing.
