About this cause
Chilli Studios, formerly Newcastle & Gateshead Art Studio (NAGAS), provides a number of creative services for people who are experiencing mental health issues or factors that may lead to social exclusion. The Chilli Studios team of art professionals & support workers aim to engage people creatively to promote inclusion & interaction, develop skills, build resilience and ultimately improve wellbeing. Running a programme of creative workshops including drawing, painting, sculpture, creative writing, music & much more. “The Studio is invaluable to me. It is my primary social interaction and the only place I can express myself creatively doing artwork. Its so good to have somewhere I can be myself, people don't judge me for my mental health. How this cause brings people in the community together
This application is towards providing the funds required to make our new innovate enterprise ‘Chilli Bizarre’ a commercial and therapeutic success. Providing the platform to make our community succeed and provide a sustainable future for our charity. In Jan16 we opened a Gallery/cafe called Chilli Bizarre, which provides an excellent opportunity to raise Mental Health awareness, sell members creative outputs whilst providing a pathway to sustainability for members and our organisation. This has already raised our profile within the region, with weekly referral rates increasing by 30%. We are now seeking support to purchase new equipment to give quality products and service for our customers, member & volunteer training and ultimately improving sustainability.
