About this cause
We provide the most isolated and lonely individuals with weekly visits, communication, reassurance and face-to-face contact when they need it, taking place outside and remaining two metres apart. We keep minds occupied while improving, planting, growing vegetables and flowers, weeding, making their outside areas safe and useable, while supporting their health and wellbeing. This reduces loneliness, isolation and feelings of anxiety.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Giving an hour a week of communication and conversation, including support in the garden, will make a vast difference. It will give hope to people in that they will be able to meet their friends in a community space, knowing we are there to keep them safe. This type of support improves individuals' health and wellbeing. One man said: "It’s a medicine without a prescription."
