About this cause

Pelton Community Association is a registered charity managed by a volunteer Board of Trustees which employs several staff and was opened in 1973. Our objectives are to facilitate educational, training and leisure activities for the people of Pelton and surrounding areas. The Association occupies and manages Pelton Community Centre, which incorporates a purpose built Youth facility called Room 14, an outside Play Area, IT Suite, a 320m2 Main Hall with full size stage, Community Gym and seven other rooms used for a variety of groups, sessions and events. We are open up to 12 hours a day, 7 days a week to allow users to enjoy social activities, conquer social isolation, improve their health and well being, to meet others or to better their skills, knowledge and abilities.

How this cause brings people in the community together

This session will bring together our community, encourage participation, learning and having fun, especially to those who are deprived, tackling isolation, lack of funds and looking to meet others. Attending groups like this from a young age encourages participation, playing with others and basic communication and interaction skills. It will also allow the parents and carers to talk with others, make new friends and gives routine to their week. We also hope to encourage local businesses, charities and services to come along to chat with our parents and carers, offering help, advice and support. The session will be £1.50/child and will be used to sustain the group once the funding comes to an end, this will include a drink for the grown ups and a healthy snack for the little ones.
