About this cause
We empower people who are vulnerable to ill health to lead healthier, happier lives, giving them practical cookery skills and knowledge to eat affordable food that enhances their wellbeing. We work with low-income families, people with long-term health challenges, such as diabetes type 2 patients and stroke survivors, people with learning difficulties, BAME groups, people in recovery and pensioners.
How this cause brings people in the community together
Everyone comes with their own story and motivation: to eat more healthily, to meet people, to feel less depressed, or to tackle a specific health condition. Regardless of motivation, all leave with the skills to eat more healthily. They also make meaningful connections with people they would not otherwise have met, due to the diverse mix of participants, crossing cultures, classes and religions.
