About this cause

As a church in a village which does not have village hall we aim to be a welcoming place for all in the community. We run coffee mornings and would like to provide soup lunches for the elderly and those who live alone. At present this is difficult as the church does not have a toilet or proper servery. Any grant would go towards the installation of an accessible toilet and a servery so that we could provide more community activities for a wider group of people. We have an enthusiastic group of people within the village who have already helped us raise some of the funds and continue to help when we have fund raising events. We would like to provide a welcoming space at the centre of the community for use by everyone in the village.

How this cause brings people in the community together

The completion of this project would open up the church to the whole community including the school. The toilet in particular would be a great asset. When folk come for weddings, funerals, baptisms we are often asked if they can use a toilet. Also the children from the school need a toilet if they are here for any length of time. We have coffee mornings which are widely appreciated but limited because of the lack of facilities. We would be able to have a lunch club based at the church, which would help any who are elderly or lonely. In fact the completion of the project would make a pleasant venue for the whole community to use for a variety of activities. We have a group of volunteers who run the coffee mornings at present and who would still be involved. All would benefit.
