About this cause

BRIC is an unemployed people’s centre who supports people aged 16-90 from South East Northumberland to improve their confidence, skills and abilities to help them back into employment; and for older people to enjoy a better quality of life. We do this by addressing their individual needs, aims and ambitions, creating a package of support and activities to help them to make positive changes to their personal situations and improve their general and mental health and wellbeing. We offer a wide range of activities including education, employment support, emotional wellbeing, financial inclusion, and a supported drop in service to enable people to come to the centre and access our resources and general advice and guidance.

How this cause brings people in the community together

One to one and small group work will be undertaken on a weekly basis delivered by a qualified tutor who is highly experienced and successful in this field. The beneficiaries will be anyone who falls below entry level and cannot access education of this type from anywhere else (this level of learning is non funded by the government and so not provided anyone in the area). By improving peoples reading and writing skills, we are raising their employment prospects, reducing the risk of people becoming further disengaged, socially isolated and fall further into the cycle of deprivation, raising their aspirations which doesn’t just impact upon themselves, but also their families also they can be more independent in tackling day to day issues, correspondence and communications.
