Skills
We want to run school visits and holiday activities with children, inspiring them about the importance and excitement of plants, using our community-based botanic garden and other unique resources.

About this cause
The SLBI, founded in Tulse Hill in 1910, provides a unique environment to help people explore the world of plants. People of all ages and backgrounds attend a wide range of events (school visits, talks, walks, workshops, open days) and use our library, dried plant collection, education room and botanic garden. Our purpose is 'to help people discover plants, to enrich lives and to sustain the future'.

How this cause brings people in the community together
The project will bring together children and families from a range of local schools and neighbourhoods, through school visits and family activities. Volunteers from different ages/backgrounds will share and gain skills and have fun helping with events. We are a hidden gem in a disadvantaged community, with 5,000 visitors per annum enjoying science, gardening, art and improved wellbeing.
